Dirty Dancing, ese remake por el que nadie pregunta, muestra sus primeras imágenes

COLT PRATTES, ABIGAIL BRESLIN

Quiero creer que hay más gente pensando en revisitar la película original que la que quiere ver este remake. Se trata de una de las películas románticas más importantes de la década de los 80, cuando el género estaba bien servido con unas cuantas películas interesantes. Falta saber si realmente aquella película era tan especial o la nostalgia nos vuelve a jugar una mala pasada. De todas maneras, aunque no queramos reconocerlo, Dirty Dancing ha pasado a la historia como una de las grandes joyas del cine ochentero.

La nueva versión que se estrenará en televisión, huye de la cartelera porque allí sería difícil que hiciera sombra a la original y por el momento, tenemos la suerte de que nadie ha pensado en hacerla en formato cine. No es una serie, por suerte, sino un telefilm que intentará hacer olvidar a Patrick Swayze y Jennifer Grey. Algo que se nos antoja imposible, por cierto.

COLT PRATTES, ABIGAIL BRESLIN
En el papel de Jonnhy Castle, el instructor de baile de Camp Kellerman, encontramos a Col Prattes, mientras que en el papel de Frances Houseman, la inolvidable Baby, tenemos a Abigail Breslin. No quiero pecar de hater, que es algo que no me gusta nada, pero hay que recordar todo lo que supuso esta película para toda una generación. Sí, incluso para los más duros y malotes. La historia de la chica de la alta sociedad y el empleado del campamento donde pasan sus vacaciones ha pasado a la historia del cine y nos ha hecho hasta mover el pie (sin que se note demasiado) al son de Hungry Eyes.

Pero recordemos que estamos en el 30º aniversario del estreno de la película y esta pequeña producción quiere rendirle homenaje. Yo habría optado por reestrenar la película en cines, pero bueno, aún están a tiempo y puede ser que esto llegue en algún momento. Para rendir ese homenaje, tenemos a Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) como Lisa, la hermana de Baby, Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy) su madre, Bruce Greenwood (Star Trek) como su padre, Nicole Scherzinger (The X Factor) en el papel de Penny, otra de los monitores de baile, además de Debra Messing (Will & Grace) y el añorado Billy Dee Williams.

La película llegará a las pantalla de ABC el 24 de mayo y de ahí, se lanzará por todo el mundo. No sé si tienes ganas de ver esta nueva versión, pero ahí tienes una galería de imágenes, que recrean muchas de las escenas que vimos en el cine (aunque fuera de tapadillo). ¿Opiniones?
